Research on Korean education in the 1940s and 1950s has grown considerably, but it remains divided among policy and institutions, individual schools and regions, and war and reconstruction. This conference brings these strands together, starting from the sources of the period and from the experiences of students and teachers. Sessions

address international aid and the Cold War educational order, the educational discourse of the 1950s, the remaking of "education fever" after liberation, and the marks that war left on schools and Cold War culture.
