규장각한국학연구원에서 2026년 규장각 특별 한국학 워크숍 제3강을 개최합니다.
이번 워크숍은 「불교와 ‘힙’ 사이: 동시대 한국불교의 새로운 감각」(Between Buddhism and “Hip”: New Sensibilities in Contemporary Korean Buddhism)을 주제로, 오늘날 한국사회에서 불교가 어떠한 새로운 모습과 감각으로 받아들여지고 있는지를 살펴보고자 합니다.
총 세 편의 발표를 통해 21세기 한국에서 ‘힙하고 쿨한’ 불교의 가능성, 미디어 환경의 변화와 함께 나타나는 한국 불교 물질문화의 새로운 양상, 그리고 ‘Spiritual, but Not Religious’ 시대에 한국불교가 현대사회에 적응하는 방식을 논의합니다. 이를 통해 동시대 한국불교가 변화하는 사회·문화적 환경과 어떠한 관계를 맺고 있는지 다양한 관점에서 살펴볼 예정입니다.

The Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies is pleased to announce the 2026 Kyujanggak Special Workshop on Korean Studies: Lecture III.
Under the theme “Between Buddhism and ‘Hip’: New Sensibilities in Contemporary Korean Buddhism,” this workshop will explore the new forms and sensibilities through which Buddhism is being experienced and understood in contemporary Korean society.
Through three presentations, the workshop will examine the possibility of “hip” and “cool” Buddhism in twenty-first-century Korea, new developments in Korean Buddhist material culture amid changing media environments, and the ways Korean Buddhism is adapting to contemporary society in an era of “Spiritual, but Not Religious.” Together, the presentations will offer different perspectives on the relationship between Korean Buddhism and the changing social and cultural landscape of contemporary Korea.
