The University of Auckland invites you to an insightful academic event by the K-Diaspora Colloquia Series, titled "Diaspora is the Future," featuring the distinguished documentary filmmaker Joseph Juhn, Esq.

Event Details:

• Date: Friday, 15 March 2024

• Time: 4 pm - 5 pm (NZDT)

• Venue: Pat Hanan Room (207-501), University of Auckland, City Campus

• Online Participation: Available via Zoom with pre-registration required. Zoom link is found above.

This special colloquium is brought to you by the University of Auckland's Strategic Research Hub Programme in Korean Studies, with the generous support of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS). Joseph Juhn will take us on a captivating journey through his documentaries "JERONIMO" (2019) and "CHOSEN" (2022), exploring the multifaceted experiences and identities of the Korean diaspora.

The session promises to be a profound exploration of diasporic consciousness and the stages of evolving identity. From a serendipitous encounter with Korean Cubans that transformed Joseph's life trajectory to his broader engagement with the global Korean community, this talk is set to deepen our understanding of diaspora and its role in shaping a collective future.

Your participation is highly valued as we delve into these compelling narratives and foster intellectually stimulating discussions. We look forward to your attendance and the insightful perspectives you will bring to the conversation.
