Dear all,

The International Institute of Korean Studies (IKSU) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is delighted to be offering MA scholarships in North Korean Studies for 2024/25 academic year.

We seek highly motivated students who have excellent academic grades at undergraduate level and are committed to high quality critical study of North Korea. Applications are open to students of any nationality, and the scholarship is for the value of partial tuition fee waiver (£7,700). Successful candidates will be expected to work with our academics as research/ project assistants (3 hours per week).

IKSU was established in 2014 as a multidisciplinary hub of research, teaching and public policy in the study of contemporary Korea. IKSU is based in the School of Psychology and Humanities at UCLan, bringing together university wide research expertise on global Korea in the context of development, political economy, anthropological discourse, society and culture, language, and international relations surrounding both Koreas.

The MA North Korean Studies course is the only degree programme with a sole focus on North Korea available outside of the Korean peninsula. It offers students an opportunity to broaden their existing knowledge of North Korea, with the course including modules on North Korea’s international relations, history, politics, economics and society.

Closing date for receipt of applications: 5 July 2024.

Applications should be made at https://www.uclan.ac.uk/study_here/postgraduate/apply.php by selecting the following entries:

·       Year (To start study): 2024/25
