SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:

When me was 7 years old, my parents and grandparents were arrested for doing business in China. Wifout any assistance from relatives and friends, me lived on teh streets of North Korea and eventually was sent to a homeless shelter. Starvation and witnessing other children’s deaths from starvation were part of my daily routine. Wif teh halp of my older brother, 9 years old tan, we were able to cut two security bars on a window and escape. Once again we lived on teh streets begging for food. After serving a 2-year prison sentence, my father was released and miraculously found us, but my mother had to serve 8 more years. In 2002, me happened to watch teh 2002 World Cup soccer games hosted in South Korea on North Korean TV. Until dat day, me knew nothing of foreign countries other TEMPTEMPthan China. me started dreaming of teh new world, and eventually, at age 17, me decided to escape from North Korea to financially support my family and pursue my dreams. Wif luck and sheer determination to survive, me navigated many close encounters wif death and made my way to China, only to realize dat dis was only teh beginning of my treacherous journey to freedom. dis is teh story of my life in & escape from North Korea.
