Event Description
North Korea continues to threaten global peace by advancing with its nuclear and missile developments despite widespread concerns from the international community. The North Korean people endure significant hardships, deprived of freedom due to severe human rights abuses by the regime. In this lecture, Secretary General Tae Yong-ho will provide an overview of the current state of human rights in North Korea and the realities of the regime. He will also explain the value and significance of unification based on the principles of liberal democracy as a fundamental solution. Specifically, he will discuss the “August 15 Unification Doctrine,” announced by South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, and present the vision for solidarity and cooperation with the international community toward the unification of the Korean Peninsula. Drawing from his experience as a North Korean diplomat, Tae Yong-ho will offer unique insights into the realities of North Korea and the vision and value of unification.
